I Am Tired Of The Mis-direction By The Mass Media

In tv shows to collect money for poor countries they always mention how low people's income is over there, like $1.50 for a 10 hour work day. Now I'm not saying they aren't poor, but there is a lot more to poverty or riches than income. Here you wouldn't even get halfway buying enough food for that money, but they often fail to mention that the factories provide free housing and that you can get a proper meal for 10 cents over there. It's the purchasing power that counts. And yes, that is pretty low there too, and 10 hour works days are inhumane, so it's a good cause to try and change things. But mentioning the income alone makes it sound way more horrific than it is without actually telling you anything at all.
