Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it. I'm glad that people understand where I am coming from and don't see it as attention seeking. I am far from a selfish person, I always put other peoples needs before my own and I am always avoiding confrontation because I would rather be unhappy than seeing someone I care about be hurt because I have told them how I feel. He needs a serious wake up call.

@Jennifail I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. It is a struggle and it sounds like your guy may not be the most mature as it seems like he is escaping to not deal with issues in your relationship. I am similar and feel like I am not being heard when I try and voice my side. Good luck to you!

Sounds to me like he's either bored or depressed. It's a form of escapism probably.
