I Hate To Lose Things

Don't you hate to lose things?

I lost 2 things and it is driving me crazy trying to figure out where they are. One is my kitchen shears...and the other is an iron on transfer i needed for an outfit I am making for this little girl. Can't find either to save my life....

I lost a U.S.B. memory some time ago, the irony is that it was because of a step I had taken to prevent this from happening. It was a particularly small one with a retractable mechanism. I had put it in a plastic tube within a small box of peripherals I carry most of the time. Thinking it was in a position where it could be whipped out along with my headphones, I moved it to what I considered to be a safer position. The next day when I went to use it, it had disappeared ! I searched all the places where I was using a P.C. notified the relevant security services, & the police. All to no avail.
Thankfully, there was no sensitive information on it, & I was able to download some of the files from original sources. It was the hours of work in other files which was the particularly galling loss.
As a solution, I replaced it with a 1TB flash memory, which is large enough not to be missed, & which will make a pretty audible bang if it hits the floor.
A week before, I had left a multicolored ballpoint in a bathroom, which had disappeared when I returned having realized that it was missing.
One nice thing which came out of it all was that for my birthday, work colleagues gave me presents (among others) of exact replacements. The main value of such gifts was people understanding the significance of such losses, & the element of restoration, giving them a value beyond the intrinsic. Yes losing things does make me mad too, but I hang on to the promise from the prophet Joel, that He is able to restore the years eaten by the locust (Joel 2:25), & nothing is lost to Him, who sees all.

i found one of the items (iron on transfers) but lost another thing...some material i need to sew with. I guess it is the sign of age...but i know what you mean. things become a part of our routines!
