I Love Chik Fil a

Chik Fil a has been around, to my knowledge, nearly 40 years. The first one I ever saw was in a mall in Tyler, Texas where I dined with my grandparents on a visit. Frankly it was a lot better back then, but so it goes.

None the less it was one of the go-to spots as a teenager any time I was at a mall. That or the self-described and now-defunct Corn Dog on a Stick. Or in the case of one mall, a great little mom and pop Chinese place that had the oddest looking, yet best tasting, sweet and sour sauce I've ever had (it was unique in flavor and was not the traditional red-that-does-not-occur-in-nature variety that prevails today). Over the years Cick Fil a disappeared from the food courts and established itself in the realm of the standalone fast food chains. With one striking difference.

They are all closed on Sunday.

On the one hand I say, good for them. Why should they HAVE to be open seven days a week. They make a fortune six days a week as it stands. None the less, this corporate mandate, reasonable though it may seem, has a seemingly sinister effect.

Never do I (or anyone I have ever spoken to on the subject) crave a Chick Fil a sandwich more than on a Sunday! It is insidious! Sure I can buy them with impunity during operating hours Monday through Saturday! Sure I manage to do this from time to time when hunger hits a crossroads with one of their locations. Yet why is it that of all of the fast food options at my disposal on a Sunday does the darkened and empty Chick Fil a seem to have an irresistible siren's call?

Why?!

Okay, you'll have to explain this one to me - I have no idea what you're talking about!

It is an American fast food chain that started out in mall locations serving only fried chicken breast sandwiches. They since moved out and expanded their menu a bit, including adding breakfast to the mix in recent years. The sandwiches are addictive and they are open only Monday through Saturday as the founder is deeply religious.

The founder is also famously anti-homosexual.

Except on Sundays.

Are they all closed on Sunday's?

Yes. A chain-wide mandate by the founder from day one. (Which was obviously not a Sunday!)
