I Have A Weird Phobia
"Scopophobia" - the fear of being watched by a human, animal or ocular device.
For me it's the last one. I am so terrified of cameras. The idea of having my picture taken freaks me out. It used to be so bad that if someone pointed a phone at me I'd start panicking. For the most part I have that aspect under control. But it's still a nightmare.
The first smartphone I got, I was scared to take it out of the box. So much so that my flatmate took the box away and opened it just so she could put duct tape over both the front facing and rear camera. Even then I still forcefully disabled the camera app on my phone.
My first computer monitor had a built in camera. I thought I could handle it but the first night I had it I couldn't sleep due to the anxiety so I threw it out and bought a new monitor. I didn't even return the first one. If I knew it came with a built in webcam I wouldn't have bought it.
Worst of all, in college I can't sit at the main desks because they all have webcams. So I have to do all my college work on the computers in the library. A very specific one that's in the blind spot of the security camera.
Secutiry cameras are the worst for me though. They're omnipresent on most buildings now so I just hide my face to the best of my ability but it still bothers me a lot. Its to the point where I walk into a building and immediately work out all the blind spots for the security cameras.
Worst of all, I don't even know if I have a good reason for this fear
