I took care of two kids after their mom died. Their dad had run off years before. I never got paid a cent by anyone. The money they got went into a savings account under their name and they had a checking account and a monthly allowance.

Unfortunately she was an alcoholic and was struggling with it. The boy started skipping school and getting into drugs. In the end I took him up to live with his grandmother. She needed the help. He got his GED and finally got a job.
