I Am Searching

If we don't stand for something, we will fall for anything.

Truth lies within ourselves: it takes no rise from outward things, whatever I may believe. There is an inmost center in me, where truth abides in fullness and to Know rather consists in opening out a way whence the imprisoned splendor may escape than in effecting entry for light supposed to be without. We take our shape, it is true, within and against that cage of reality bequeathed us at our birth; and yet is precisely through our dependence on this reality that we are most endlessly betrayed.

Truth, when not sought after, rarely comes to light. To announce truths is an infallible receipt for being persecuted.

When the brothers of Prophet Joseph outright lied and slandered him by accusing him of being a thief, Allah mentions Joseph's response:
"So Joseph kept [his feelings] hidden from them, and didn't reveal them to his brothers"
- (Quran 12:77).
Such is the dignified response of a true believer. Not every slander needs to be responded to, and not every calumny defended. At times, silence is the best response. This is especially the case amongst family and loved ones. I Learned to ignore some of the painful comments that come from loved ones, and I will be a better person for it.
