I Refuse To Read A Book Series Out Of Order

I hate picking up a series midway through. The primary reason being that I have no idea what came before and how it affects the book in my hands.

I didn’t realize people did that on purpose, that sounds awful. Reading a series out of order...that’s blasphemy as far as I’m concerned.
I'd think it should depend on the series. Some do it much better than others

Discworld has been pretty good about it. But say, Dresden, Potter, you have to start at the beginning. So much character development and plot lines that you miss out on.

Yes!!!! This is how I feel about books, tv and movies! You will kill me for this but I watched episodes 4,5,6 before the original 3!

@themindmistress but then who hasn’t at this point? In the case of the Star Wars movies I do the a modified Machete Order. Rogue One, 4,5,2,3,6. I skip Phantom Menace because nothing overly relevant happens in it.

I refuse to read a book series.

@MrBlueGuy I try not to unless it is a long series, or the series is completed by the author. Why I will never read the GoT books until Martin gets off his ass and finishes the series.
