I Would Rather Be Alone Than Be With the Wrong Person

When you're with someone special, they can make you feel happiness in ways other people can't. When you're with the wrong person they can hurt you in ways other people can't. Besides, i'm a very self reliant person. Being alone doesn't get to me often.

Reminds me of the old song, "Owner of a lonely heart": "Owner of a lonely heart, much better than the owner of a broken heart..." Some truth to that; I tend to be a bit of a loner, myself. But there's also truth to an even older song, Simon & Garfunkel's "I am a rock, I am an island": "I am shielded in my armor - hiding in my room, safe within my womb, I touch no one and no one touches me... I am a rock, I am an island." Only by being vulnerable to pain and sadness can we also be vulnerable to love and joy...
