I Keep a Gratitude Journal

I wish one day I could find and do the job I like. I wish I could manage my time better so that I don't work overtime. I wish I had better discipline to stop working when office hours end, without worrying not able to finish next day. I wish I had a clearer mind before I speak and work, so that I don't say and do nonsense wasting effort.

@novembermoon when I went to travel in end Oct in a less developed place in our continent, a friend asked, "have you ever thought about what you would become if you were born and grew up here?" Looking around, laid-back people sitting outside the shops, waiting for customers that may not come. I replied, "I cannot imagine living here, sitting for a whole day doing nothing every day." I realized I'd prefer living in my city.

It is challenging to live in our home city/country. There are not many choices in the side of the world where we live and things happen here are so extreme. But I m grateful that I m in the better part of it.

@Sssslm agree with you. Many countries in Southeast Asia are not as developed economically. I see that it has a lot to do with the culture of the people. The Chinese people are one of a kind. We work and work until we don't know when to stop. It's a strength and a weakness at the same time.

Has it ever occurred to you that we might be stuck in a state of work that is abnormal? High pressure, huge volume of work, short deadlines, meeting KPIs (key performance indicators), competition, long hours, - these are the kind of things that exist in our work culture. I conclude that it has less to do with our time management and more with how things are in our external environment. And it does not help with our Asian mentality that we have to be a 有用的人 ( a useful, productive person). I think we're too driven, too practical, too competitive for our own good. And we forget we're human and we have our needs too.
I wish all those things for myself, as well.
