Where did you find a regular DVD player?

@NoGamesTolerated must be a relic though. Blu-Ray can play dvd,cd ,even hd disc(which was short lived and discontinued). I think mine is like 10 years old or sth but i never actually used it because I have gaming consoles. It’s up for grabs for free if anyone wants it

No. That would be forward compatibility. Most BR players will play DVDs though(backward compatibility).
