I never delete work emails. It can save your butt even years later.
Today I received a phone call from my former supervisor at my previous place of employment. She asked me about something from 2 or 3 years ago.
Turns out a man who I had worked with is being investigated for allegations of corruption - and she was confirming some details with me because she was being interviewed by the government agency that look into these matters.
Holy hell, I'm so glad I never delete emails....... I gave her what she asked for and knew that if she needed evidence, I had the emails to back it up.
