I Am Writing a Novel

I'm trying to write a synopsis for my novel. Trying to sum up 90,000 words in just 500 is not any fun at all. The worst part is that I feel like it's making my story sound ridiculous.

I don't envy you
I have written essays that won me metals ,but a book
I have tried ,,the harder I try to condense details
the less it makes sense too
without explaining certain things ,they will never get it ,
not explaining how we got here ,they want to know how we got from here to there
I can't do it
I write long posts ,and throw grammar and punctuation to the wind ,
No one would read my books
you would need a forklift to put it on a table

perhaps have a friend write it for you?

@booboo Once I get it roughed out, I'll let my wife give it some polish. She did a really good job punching up my query letter.

Maybe hire an editor? Someone else who specializes in this might be better.

Who will be reading the synopsis? What is its purpose?
Sourdad · 56-60, M
@greenmountaingal I'm looking for an agent to help me get my book published. Many agents require a query letter and a synopsis. I'm not going to pay someone to read my book and then write a synopsis. I can do it. It's just not as much fun as it was to write the book.

@Sourdad Be sure to emphasize the parts of your book that will "sell" it to an agent. I understand about literary drudgery. Best of luck with all of it.
