Others can definitely shape you, just as the "company that you keep".
With that said, individuals are ultimately responsible for themselves and the decisions they make.
This is something that took me awhile to learn. It is also why I don't associate with negative or "high maintenance" people/excuse makers.
It may sound harsh, but it's not intended for that purpose.
