I Am A Caregiver To My Spouse

Been a long couple weeks. Wife went in for an operation for a suprapubic catheter a week and a half ago, all the tests were done and the surgery should have went smoothly. But she had a minor heart attack after the surgery which made her have to stay in the hospital for 6 days. She was released a week ago with 6 new medications to take bringing her total to 16 daily. A nurse redressed her G-tube differently than I normally do, we didn't think this was an issue. But when we got home the G-tube was out about 13cm, we didn't think much of it as it has come out before but not that far. A home care nurse came early the next day to check on things and insisted we get the G-tube looked at. 911 call and ambulance ride later and she is back in the local hospital. After getting checked out, it seems the G-tube had gone defective and pulled out of her stomach and had to be replaced. Exactly a week after her first operation she had another, not fully recovering from the first yet. Yesterday she was released from that hospital and is back home again. It has been a very stressful time on her and her emotions are not doing well at all. Can't say my emotions are in great shape either.

That is a lot to go through in such a short period of time. I hope you both catch a break, and soon.🤗

@Caprice Thank you, unfortunately no real break coming. Just have to keep my wife comfortable and happy until the end. Only thing I can do.

I am sorry about your wife. But you seem a real cry baby. 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes all we can do is be present. I’m sure your wife is grateful for having you there😊@gmatthewb

@JamesHanes Being the only 24/7 caregiver for my terminally ill wife and having no friends or family to help me out through all of this has been hard on me. I can see how that can make me look like a cry baby to most people who don't know what it is like. The few who do understand have told me that they don't feel I'm a cry baby. I don't fault you on your opinion of me. I've been called a cry baby a number of times in my life.

@JamesHanes you have no idea what you are even talking about or what hes dealing with.

@gmatthewb You did NOT deserve this grossly insensitive harassment, probably from someone who has NO experience nor the slightest idea of what these awful situations are like and is probably closer to the age of real actual crying babies than a full grown man facing some of the worst that life has to offer anyone. Take care, friend. You gave a civilized response, but you did not in any way deserve such a mean spirited comment.
