I Feel Like I Don't Live Up to Expectations

I often wonder if people in here, and forums in general, realize that behind these silly names and avatar pics there are real persons. I am a little annoyed by people's expectations lately, especially people who PM you. I wish everyone would understand that we are humans behind the screens, we have complex personalities and feelings, just cause you read some stupid or funny comment i wrote doesn't mean you can PM me and I'll be in the mood to entertain you hours or days later, just cause I (accidentally) wrote something that seems smart doesn't mean I am feeling like a deep and meaningful conversation at another time when I just want to joke around, just cause you catch me in a flirty or joking mood doesn't mean i am suddenly dumber or that I can't handle deeper themes it just means i'm not in the mood then. Stop having all kind of weird expectations of me (and generally anyone you haven't met) and you might have less disappointments, a better time and the opportunity of meeting more people without getting butthurt mad.
And if you're unable to understand that and want a single faceted caricature of a person then don't blame me for pissing on your parades. I meant raining of course. Yellow rain.

Amen. I agree with your post 100%...
If only some people would remember that behind the words are people!

@Wings1969: it seems to be a lot to ask. We stretch our ability to care too far and wide and we want to touch as many people as possible to feel connected but we neglect our limited capacity for empathy.

@kayoshin: plus by stretching our ability to care so far and wide, we often opens up to others knowing how much we care and want to help, that we get taken advantage of.

Of course, where ever there are groups of people there are also predators.

@kayoshin: sadly how true that is!

As long as you know they are there you are relatively safe.

@kayoshin: I'm safe. I can't say everyone is, as some don't pay attention or maybe they just don't care.

I doubt people don't care, but hope is a dangerous thing and everyone hopes they are the lucky ones that only meet the nicest coolest most awesome people and no one can go below their radar with hidden agendas.

@kayoshin: hope can definitely be a dangerous thing. Just have to learn who is actually truly being nice and who isn't. Not always easy.
