I Love My Job Because I Love What I Do

I have a few jobs but, my ultimate favorite is the nursing home. I love the fact that when I walk in, it makes the residents happy. I know that cause when I show up, most of them want hugs & it just warms my heart that I make that much of an impact on their lives. I was promoted to an Aid position where I got the privilege of having a one on one job. I’m with this man who is real chair bound & my job is to make sure he participates in activities, etc. Today was a beautiful moment with him. I was walking him around outside in the field & he revealed to me that I’m like a daughter to him & that he sees me making a difference in the world. We talked about life & shared stories. Turns out he loves the same lullaby that my grandmother used to sing to me when I was living with her. He started humming it & I hummed with him until we both started singing it together. It was just 5 minutes of beauty & pure friendship that I will treasure forever. I love the fact that I’m making people happy just by being there. It feels so good!

One of my daughters runs a one woman cleaning business and has the happy knack of collecting elderly clients via word of mouth. She too means the world to them. No job is ever too difficult for her to tackle, she's friendly and talkative and her bright and cheerful attitude means the word to people who often have very few other visitors. You're in fine company Rosie.
