I Love My Job Because I Love What I Do

The first photo I took this morning. I work in the oilfield, an energy sector of much contraversy in the media nowadays.

Here in the northern region of Alberta, winter is welcomed and appreciated. Most of the land where oil and gas are extracted from up here is muskeg or clay based, meaning that in warmer temperatures it's soft and often a demon to deal with. Mud is an animal of its own and driving in it takes time to learn and understand, as it is nothing like driving on other surfaces/road conditions. For the men and women out here that operate heavy trucks/equipment like I do tire chains are their friends.

As dangerous as it is made out to be, it is actually quite the opposite. The oilfield is a very safe and controlled environment to work in, with safety and environmental concern at the pinnacle of its focus. It is a challenging atmosphere that provides a fairly good remuneration ranging anywhere from $60K to upwards of $120K.

Yep, some people are going to hate. But I love what I do and the field I work in.

I know somebody who worked up there, saw incredible pics of great places and how big the plants were. He loved what he did!
