I Say Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Blowing Off Some Steam

Just shouting into the void to blow off steam. Feel free to ignore.

So I've had this job for nearly a year, and I bust my ass at it. I've come in with the flu on days I know we'll be busy. I took extra shifts when co-workers had emergencies and couldn't work or just wanted time off to do something important to them like weddings or whatever. When every one of my co-workers are sitting down talking, I'm still working. When a co-worker is procrastinating, I help do some of their work when mine is done. I volunteer for the more difficult jobs no one else wants to do. I never complain and when I finish with my task, I search for more to do. I never stop working. I earn my paycheck.

My reward? I get my hours cut without explanation. Asking around, I hear that the boss and one of the co-workers have been talking about me behind my back. This one co-worker, who has never spoken to me about having a problem, has been lying about me to the boss. The boss, who rarely actually is around accepts her word for it. Never talks to me. Co-workers claim she never talked to them. Then out of the blue I get a text threatening to cut my hours more because of my "lack of work ethic."

I'm tempted to quit, accept poverty, and show my lack of work ethic by dedicating the free time to destroying that business and the family that owns it. And I feel that I could with the number of health and safety laws they violate.

@SW-User Yeah, I've already started looking and plan to be out within a month. Still, while I'm sure they can wreck their business on our own, I kind of just want to look them in the eye while I burn it down. I know it's ultimately not worth it, but it's a satisfying fantasy. lol
