I Am In a Good Mood

Stayed up late talking with my 9 year old about people-ing, why where we give our time/energy matters, the difference between momentarily butting heads with someone versus recognizing a toxic habit to someone’s conduct, and being open/taking the Initiative to make new, potentially awesome friendships rather than settling for being drained by frienemies or flakes out of familiarity.

Add that to the list of chats I wish my parents were capable of having with me lol

Excellent, sounds like you have had a good chat with them! I remember being that age and it is very hard to listen, let alone take good advice.

I’m glad she knows she can talk to me about theses things. She’s smart for her age and generally likes me 😆, which makes explaining certain subjects in a kid friendly/relatable way a bit easier on me as the parent attempting to give guidance.

I made a deal with her that once a week I wanted her to ask someone totally new at recess to play a game. We talked about the different ways they might respond, how to handle that, and worst case scenario, she gets ice cream later just for putting herself out there. @Wol62

@DamnFeelz She does sound smart, you must be very proud of her! There can't be many mother with children her age that can claim that.

I am 😊 I know every parent thinks that about their child (and they should ) but I am.. not a ‘I love all kids’ person haha ( mostly bad parenting, not the kids) She’s got her growing pains like everybody, but she’s growing up to be a wise, compassionate, helpful, little human 🧡 @Wol62

@DamnFeelz Sounds like a kid I knew when I was growing up, she was your daughters age when she saved two boys from drowning...they were a year older than her too!

Hope she feels better @tiggerandariel13

I won’t put that kind of pressure on her ha ha, but that is an awesome story @Wol62
