I Have a Younger Sister
The oldest adopted, currently living in my apartment, is the only person in my family who has ever had my back. That's sad because she's a kid. She shouldn't have to feel like she needs to defend someone. It's not her job. She's a very loyal person, though. She's stepped in before to try to stop our dad when he felt like being threatening towards me.
I'd gotten into an argument with a neighbor once. He got in my face, but he wasn't physically threatening. He was just trying to be intimidating. He wasn't going to do anything. I laughed. My sister picked up a big rock and threatened to hit him with it. It stopped being funny. I had to stop her.
She's a very anxious person. I know it takes a lot for her to confront people but she does it a lot, not just for me but also to defend other people she cares about.
Even if she annoys the hell out of me sometimes, I can trust her and I remember how far this kid goes out of her way when she doesn't have to.
