I Have a Job

I'm seriously pissed off from where I work. I've been telling them for months that I need more hours. My boss said she would talk to the guy who is above her today and talk about the schedule so that I can get more hours. She hasn't even contacted me about what happened so I take that as a bad sign that nothing changed. I texted her but she didn't respond. I hate that I work my ass off for these people and in return they give me only 5 1/2 hours a week. I can't live like that. There's no point in even quitting since I still need to make money even if it's barely anything. I've been trying to look for other jobs in my area but nothing appeals to me. This is how my life has always been- I give and people take.
