I Still Live With My Parents

Okay so you guys will probably say this is lame and pathetic, but yes I'm 27 and still with my dad. My mom lives in another state (it's a long story and will not go into details). So anyways times are still hard and we help dad as we can. I live with my older bro (who still lives with us) and my one of my older cousin. We all help pitch in and help dad out with bills and utilities. We can't afford to buy groceries like we used to so we help my dad to pitch in. I go to college part time and I don't start my new job until next month and it's also part time. One of my best friend really would like us to be roommates one day. She said she and her mom will be moving out (In December hopefully) of the house they live in now and they asked if I wanted to live with them. I said yes at first but now that I think about it....I still gotta help my family with the expenses and I can't be too far from job and plus....well I just gotta help my family. I gotta tell her....I have another cousin that still lives with his mom because she can't work anymore and he helps her with fiances in all. So...yeah. Don't get me wrong, I would like to have my own place one day but as of now, times are hard and I gotta help my family out.

Nothing pathetic about it, nor lame. In the modern world, where the ultra rich have stolen almost all of the money, it's tough for everyone below the upper-middle class.

& yeah, in that situation, putting your family first seems the right thing to do.

@SW-User Good luck for your future

@firefall thank you. I hope they'll understand but I know they will.

It's not pathetic. You're getting an education and helping your family. You're not sitting in the basement freeloading. There's no shame in giving back to the people that take care of you.

@SW-User well ya of course. After whay dad as done for us, it's the least we can do

There are more people living with their parents for a longer time. I've left home late, though my parents didn't need my help. It allowed me to save money so I could affort my own place.

@Classified Oh well that's good. Yeah the reason for us is that is because we help dad out and plus I help my dad with the phone bill as well. I have another reason too but its personal.

@SW-User Helping your dad out is a great reason. I hope you find a nice place in the future when you move out. :)

@Classified thanks =)

There is nothing wrong to live with parents, even if the finance is good. Nice to see, you care for your family. Regards.

@SW-User thanks.
You are to be admired for staying at home to help your dad. That's not pathetic at all. ☺

@allsfinebime2 aww thanks. I gotta do what I can. Family is first. I'm sure my friend and her mom will understand
I think family is very important and that comes first

It sounds like this makes the most sense for your circumstances right now. In many places the economy is such that it's not financially feasible for young people to have their own places. And helping your father is admirable, there's nothing wrong with that. Don't worry about what others think, you're doing what you need to do.
