I Still Live With My Parents

Well I wanted to move out by the end of the year. I had just moved back to my hometown in December after graduating to live with my parents. I had an apartment at school and I'm still paying my lease til July 2018. I thought I could move out once that ended. But I cant do that anymore. Once that expense goes away Im taking on another.

Sallie Mae (my student loans) just informed me my interest only loan payments are capitalizing in August I'll be paying 3x more on my loans than I was before on top of my deferred federal loan payments starting. Let's just say its over 1000 a month at the moment which I already can't afford. Hopefully I can figure something out or I'll be here a long while.

Woah. That's a huge monthly payment for education. The government should really address college tuition fees. I think it's horrible to ask students to pay so much for a degree.

If you have a job, that could be a good strategy to pay down your student loans. Although not optimal from a 'I want to be on my own' perspective.

@Aidan no, but better than being in situation with no job. Is the lease you are still paying more than your projected loan payments?

You just want to be on your own, but would it be a good idea to stay with folks for a couple years and accelerate your loan payments?

@VeronicaJane No my lease is my cheapest expense compared to these loan payments im about to be paying.

Yeah I will not be moving out for a while now.
