I Met Someone Famous
FF Coppola was talking to some kids he was coaching for their part in "The Outsiders"
He was preparing them to get into a frightened mood before doing a scene where some teens rescue them from a burning building...
and so he said to them "Pretend you are the ladybug in the nursery rhyme 'Lady bug lady bug fly away home your house is on fire and your children will burn!!!!!
And damn if I didn't remember feeling totally frightened when I thought of that little kids poem too. Like the fun-creepy way you get watching a horror movie on a lonely night...and so safe too...no trauma here.
Coppola was a genius to coach the kids that way. It worked too. When he recited the ditty he was highly horrified and the kids picked up immediately and started to get into character right then and there.
Stroke of the master. Maybe some kids felt like the ladybug's endangered child.
Felt like a personal communication from that dude to me
about how "it" all works! About why some acting is so powerful. About doing art. Communicating.
BRAVO!
Damn good movie. Awesome director and watching this I felt like I knew him.
