We tried rolling our skirts to make them as short as possible, much to the displeasure of the staff. If caught, a whack or two on the behind with a slipper was not unusual! The pain of fashion! 😄

It has always been an amusing mystery to me how teenage schoolgirls will shorten their skirts, inviting the male gaze and (at least in bygone days) the slipper on their bottoms. Please enlighten us, @SarahNation.

@Disciplinarian from my memories it was a way to go against authority. I guess it was a way of rebellion and also getting the boys to look at us when we were not under our parents’ scrutiny.
