I Had a Dream Years Ago That Has Stuck With Me

[big]The Storm[/big]

A few years ago, back when we still had our little rat terrier, Penny, I had a frightening dream about a tornado.

It lifted our house into the air and spun it around, faster and faster. Eventually, because of the centrifugal force in our spinning house, the front door was flung open, and all of our stuff started flying out. Strangely, no one else was home. It was just our little dog, Penny, and me.

The house was lifted higher and higher, and more and more of our stuff flew out the front door, until everything was gone. And then, the house lowered, just enough so that our dog was able to jump out the door and run away. And that was just what she did. She jumped out and ran away, and I never saw her again (in the dream).

But I couldn't let go, even though something (the spinning and centrifugal force) was trying to hurl me out too. Eventually, the entire house was ripped apart and only the front door was left. But I hung on to that front door for dear life, until that, too, was ripped away from me.

And then I was left with nothing. I was just spinning in the air, all by myself, until the wind finally died down, little by little, and I was slowly lowered until I finally touched down, when the storm was over.

And then, when I looked around, there was almost nothing there anymore to tell me where I was. Only our garage was left.

Interestingly, just a few months after I had this dream, we had to have our little dog, Penny, put down because she had cancer and was in constant pain. So sadly, she did leave us. Also, a lot of other things that I had always counted on also disappeared after I had that dream. So in a way, my world was somewhat ripped apart.

But, on the plus side, I have to remember that in the end, I landed on my feet, with my body intact, and I still knew where I was. And even after all the losses that I've experienced, I'm still here. And I've been trying to rebuild my world into something better than what it was before.

What a wonderful story!😊It's great you've kept such a positive outlook through your losses. I believe our dreams can be a warning of things to come, I've had them before too. I'm so sorry about your little dog.🌏🥀😢🐕

@Peaches: Thank you! ♥ Thanks so much for taking the time to read my story, and for your condolences. Yes, I think the dream may have been a warning about changes that were coming.

@Heartlander: Yeah, they're wonderful dogs. My little rat terrier was so sweet. She loved everybody.

Yes. Loyal and loving. Very smart. And they are extremely efficient in the rat and similar pest department.
