When We Said Goodbye

You said in 11 weeks you were tying the knot with someone new
I wished you the best and knew we were through
I held out hope that you'd come back
But alas luck and fate is what I lacked
You said you were sorry we didn't work out
I forgave just as quickly as the words came out
The pauses were enough to signify what was done
That where there was a you and an I no longer we were one...
I mentioned how I had hoped he'd calm your fears
The screen went blurry as I choked back tears...
