I Hate My Period

I had to work eight hours while cramping and nauseous. It was awful. I had to fill in for my friend who had an emergency Monday only for her mother to fall and break her ankle yesterday, which understandably caused her to miss two workdays and our boss was okay with that. Our boss had me work both her shift and my shifts, making an eight-hour shift today. And I didn't have a problem with that; she's my friend and coworker after all and we are also short-staffed where I work so I wanted to be there for my team. I was just unlucky that this happened during my period. I bathed in epsom salt and took painkillers before it started this morning because I knew it would start today but the pain started dull and grew to be an incredible pain in my abdomen and back. It wasn't until the last hour of my shift that the pain started to subside and an hour later it was completely gone. But I know it will be back early tomorrow morning. Luckily I'll have my usual five-hour afternoon shift which means I have all morning to treat myself so that I will feel good enough to work.

I somehow pulled this off as if nothing was wrong with me and I'm still shocked that I could manage that. A few weeks ago, when I didn't have a job, I could lay in bed for days and focus on recovering but I don't have that luxury anymore. I've got to think up a plan to so that I can recover on time before my shift starts.

Try an insert instead of a tampon
