I Love Art

I particularly like Vermeer. There is something about the domestic scenes he painted that makes me feel like I'm looking through a window to another time and place. I could spend ages looking at one of his paintings wondering about the people in it.
There are many other artists I like too: Degas, Munch, Botticelli... there isn't really any one period I favour. So long as they paint people. I am not so interested in landscapes or still life, but people will always interest me.

Vermeer is a personal favorite. His works are so vibrant. He captures the living essence

@DanielChristensen Oh, I didn't know there was a movie. Is it about the young girl, or about Vermeer himself? I like historical documentaries.
That's an interesting perspective. I've never really thought of it as haunting. Just intriguing. People's faces intrigue me, which is why I like portraits so much.
The Scream is a painting that really haunts me, because you can hear what you're seeing, and that's just plain creepy.

@Randomlygenerated It's one of my favorite movies. It's about him and the girl. Colin Firth as Johannes Vermeer and Scarlett Johansson as a young servant named Griet

Interesting! I should check that out. Thanks for the recommendation 🙂

I get it now, after you explained it so nicely , it's total opposite of what I like. Landscapes throws the doors open and let fresh air in

@SW-User Yes, I can see why landscapes are so popular and they can really add atmosphere to a room. I suppose I was thinking more along the lines of visiting an art museum - I find portraits endlessly interesting, but I wouldn't want to spend all afternoon looking at landscapes (although they are beautiful).
