I Like Historic Architecture

When I was 9 years old, I set foot in France for the first time. It was a world of beauty and wonder; bakeries with pastries that were just as visually stunning as they were delicious, and people speaking a language more beautiful than the English that I was raised to speak. Yet what most captured my attention were the historic buildings. Glamorous arches, large gothic towers and art deco era grandiose details that were next to nonexistent in my hometown, mesmerized my mind and held my imagination captive.

I knew then that I wanted to be an architect and made it my goal to attend an elite institution to learn the skills that I would require to create and design something just as beautiful. I wanted to create elaborate and royal looking buildings, taking elements from the Sun King’s Versailles and fusing it into functional buildings.

Then, Corona virus shut down schools and decimated the economy. Will there be little development in the coming years? Shall the trends in building develop to be more utilitarian, green and cost effective? I certainly hope not, but it seems it will.

What to do now with life? My dream of 10 years seems an impossible fantasy now.

😥 J'adore ta déscription de Paris!!

Surely this too shall pass and there will be room for creative, beautiful architecture in the world and opportunities to study architecture as you have wanted to for so long. In the meantime there must be things you can do to keep learning, connecting with architects or other people who would be good to have in your network, dreaming and planning. I really want to see your buildings!
