People in an audience are generally sympathetic toward a person who stands in front of them presenting something or giving a speech. Think of how you feel in situations where you were the audience; they would much rather see you succeed than fail.
Be excited and interested in what you are showing them or telling them and then they will be, too.
In public opinion polls, the majority of people polled fear death less than they fear public speaking; it is, for a lot of people, their #1 fear. Only the loss of a child is feared more than public speaking. You are most definitely not alone in this.
One good thing: Each time you go through this ordeal, you will get better at it. The ability to speak in public is a huge advantage in life and will, as you will find, serve you well.
I learned all this by becoming a teacher many years ago. In teacher's college, they force you up in front of your teaching classes all the time to prepare you for your teaching career, a situation in which some in your "audience" will be resistant and hostile. Everyone struggles with this at first, and then gets used to it.
Hang in there. Just keep going. It will be all right. Eventually, believe it or not, it will even be fun.
