A carburetor mixes fuel and air before it hits the engine to give it the most effect in terms of 'power'.

Carbs are a bit rare these days as most modern vehicles are 'fuel-injected' directly into a more efficient engine.

@Bratt Largely obsolete i suspect. They still put them on smaller cars but i think the fuel injection system is how most vehicles run these days.

You might find decent second-hand/reconditioned ones out there.
