In Berlin I worked at a Kunstprojekt in the east of the city.

After leaving Goldsmith's I embarked on joining an art project I had learnt about in Berlin. I moved there from London. It was very intimidating there at first but I got in deep, involved and I became an integral part of the work there.

Berlin is getting very expensive a place to live, and I went from a small but expensive pension hotel to a flatshare in what is the western side of the city, and on to a flatshare in the east! My savings were severely short before I got my first payments as a member of the Projekt, which is run as a collective.

Working with cloth, my skills gave an extra dimension to the art and design and we began to get orders, commissions, which added a new level of revenue to the Projekt, and I performed other tasks for my colleagues which contributed to their work too! All in all we were good for each other!

I will admit I miss the guys I worked with, and I would love to go back just as soon as the Covid19 pandemic has been dismissed to history, if that's ever going to be possible! I've been back in London for a year now, making a contribution by making face masks and other PPE for the local community authorities, until yesterday. I now need to find some other work, paying work, although my Mum has said nothing about my being home.

Good luck.
This pandemic has hit your generation the hardest economically. I hope you find work soon and can return to Berlin too
