I Lost My Job

Walked into a meeting with the boss today, HR was there. After 18 years i was handed a summary of my severance package and let go.

I feel a lot of stress and fear. I've survived multiple lay offs and didn't see this one coming. Was totally blindsided. I keep telling myself I've got time to figure something out and find a new job, but emotionally I'm a mess. Fear, anger, hurt... I've got it easy compared to a lot of people, but it's still a blow to my ego and the stress is real. Still have a family to support and I haven't had to job hunt in a long time.

Taking a couple days to process before transitioning my work and start looking for a new job.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It always bothers me when older people lose their jobs, especially after long years of loyal service. I don't think there is much loyalty today, and to me that's always an important trait for an employee to have.

Take time this weekend to put it far from you mind. Next week you can then try to find something. Hopefully even better than what you had before. Best of luck to you.
