The family medical leave act . Requires employers to give you , none paid leave for 12 weeks providing you work 12 months and I believe it's 1250 hrs , per year . Family illness , personal health issues . Etc . After that they are no longer required to maintain your position . It's on line .

Okay. I don't fulfill any of those. So yep it's legal. Just ridiculously short notice.
