@Syntonic it’s way too cold for all of us. My joints ache & I get fatigued every time a cold front or storm front is approaching.

@Syntonic I live in Oklahoma. And all of Texas has had record freezes and cold this week now. Snow all the way to the ocean. No escaping it. Except maybe Hawaii and Florida and I can’t afford to move at my age.

@cherokeepatti My partner and I are considering a move to the Philippines when I retire.

@Crazywaterspring is the government stable there? And I’ve heard that the crime rate especially in the cities is terrible. One of the ladies from the Philippines went home to visit and she said you didn’t want to wear jewelry and ride the bus, they would reach in and cut your finger off to get a ring you were wearing.

@cherokeepatti Manila is scary. The provinces are fairly peaceful. Stay away from some areas in the southern part. The Philippines is due for elections next year. The place has changed a LOT since I was first there in the 80s. President Duterte gets bad press here but he's fairly popular for cracking down on drugs and corruption. Covid is a huge challenge.

@Crazywaterspring It’s the drug problem causing the violent crimes. And the Commies would like to step in and take over too. I never blamed him for being hardcore on criminals. It gets to the point that the entire country will collapse if you let that continue.

@cherokeepatti The government tried to engage with the communists. They've been upgrading the military from Vietnam war era American hand-me-downs. The U.S. and Israel have been doing a lot of training there. Then there is China building islands.
