I Love Southern Culture

Not quite true. My stepmother is from the southern United States and she is very proud of her heritage and where she comes from, and it seems like there are positive things about the culture. It’s something I don’t really know much about, but I would love to find out more and speak to other people from there.

I grew up in the south as well. ⭐️
MarthaMazz · F
@Peaches Oh cool where about? When did you move away?
Peaches · F
@MarthaMazz I was raised in NC and moved away back in the late 60's. 😔I miss the country and all the wild life there, especially the fireflies.
MarthaMazz · F
@Peaches I would love to visit there, I love the countryside and wildlife too.
I have never seen a firefly in real life so I would love to see that.
Peaches · F
@MarthaMazz I heard from @Fungirlmmmthey are disappearing now?!😔
MarthaMazz · F
@Peaches Oh no why is that? 😔
I guess a lot of things like that must have changed since when you were living there
Peaches · F
@MarthaMazz The weather changing is what I think. 🤔
MarthaMazz · F
@Peaches Ohh that would make sense I guess
But its a real shame
What other wildlife was there in the country?
Peaches · F
@MarthaMazz They have many birds back there that say their own names, 🐥🐦️like the "Bob White," the "Whippoorwill," and the "Killdeer." There might be more, I don't remember. The red cardinals are also beautiful flying over a snow covered field.🥰

@Peaches Oh I just googled them they look amazing!

@MarthaMazz Weather and climate changes as well as pesticides and certain parts of NC and TN have unusual species of them. People flock there to see them but follow rules and they get off marked oaths. They end up stepping on and killing the females who go to ground after they mate.
They said light pollution confuses them too and they can't see that hot specimen of the opposite sex to copulate ;) We call them lightening bugs though. ;)

@Fungirlmmm there were so many out around the lake last night ... it was beautiful .

@TexChik They are here too. I love living in the country

@Fungirlmmm it’s magical to watch . That and the bullfrogs singing , the owls, and the distant rumble and light show of a thunderstorm .
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@TexChik I had little tiny frogs on the patio yesterday. And the birds are all calling to their mates. They don't even consider social distancing.

@TexChik ...and the sound of the crickets! 😌🦗🦗
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@Peaches love my crickets too and look forward to their return each year.
