My mother was a fastidious cleaner. She passed this on to me. I don't have a certain place for everything. My partner is like that where things have to be in a certain place
I'm lucky not to live in a dusty area as I do have some allergies. I vacuum every couple of days. My sitting room carpet is very light and shows every single bit. It's a lovely deep pile but the bits can be irritating.
