Do deer whistles work (for cars)?

The ones you place in your front car grill to scare them from running into the road.

Almost had one total my car last night and it scared the dickens outta me!

If you mean those little things you stick on the hood of your car the answer is no. Great marketing but ZERO evidence of efficacy

@DecafD The marketing is fantastic when you think about it. I have been driving for 50 years and in all that time I have hit exactly one deer. So if I put those things on my car after I hit the deer 20 years ago could my next 20 years of never hitting a deer while driving be attributed to the whistles or the fact that I only hit one deer in 50 years?

I've driven behind a truck with them on, on the highway and they make an awful noise. So I would assume that would scare off most animals.
