Why do some families disown their relative for being in an interracial relationship?

One of my friends said her aunt and uncle disowns their daughter because she is dating a black man. Her whole family disowns her cousin. She still talks to her cousin but her aunt and uncle aren’t speaking to her because of that. Why would families just disown someone for a stupid reason?

Sadly there are many who believe even mixing with another culture is a dilution of their own.

It can also mean that families don't move up their cultural hierarchy which is often what arranged marriages are about.

People are very narrow minded and have hateful beliefs. Honestly, I'm not sure how people justify such blatant racism. Some people say it's a sin to date or marry outside of your race, but that's just an excuse to back up their twisted beliefs.
