Anxious about quitting next week…

So as I said in my last story in this group, I’m going on a week long vacation with my family next week. No one in my family knows I vape or even that I used to smoke occasionally. I think my mom might suspect it though. Anyway, I don’t want them to find out (if they don’t already know), or if they do know, I don’t want to hear a sermon about it while on vacation, so my intent is to quit next week.

I tried to quit cold turkey yesterday, hoping I could get over the withdrawal symptoms before this weekend, with no luck. I was angry all day and couldn’t focus on anything.

Anyway, we all leave this Saturday. My thought is either that I can bring my vape but keep it in my pocket and only use it when no one is around, like in the bathroom and in bed. I’m not sure how that would work. I also bought some of those nicotine lozenges yesterday, so I may try using those. I haven’t opened them yet, so I’m not sure if there’s enough in there to last me the whole week, or how well they work.

Any tips?

You're from Texas? They're probably all snortin' meth and sniffin' glue!

[@45528,hunkalove] Noooo, my family is very…let’s just say “puritan?” As in the only “drug” they’re kinda-sorta okay with is alcohol, and even then, they drink about twice a year (for me it’s 2-3 times a month). And none of them are from Texas.

BTW, I think you’re getting Texas mixed up with Kentucky and West Virginia. 😉

Being a smoker for 55+ yrs. What does help me are long walks while trying to quit. It relieves the anxiety that comes with withdrawals.

[@1150425,eyeno] Not a bad idea. That’s good for you too.

bring your tablets, and only use them when you're having an irresistible craving. they will absolutely deliver the nicotine you're addicted to. they just won't satisfy the ritual of the physical act of vaping.

i just have a feeling that you'd be tempted more often knowing the vape is there, and much more likely to get caught in the act of vaping than popping a tablet.

[@1102251,RopinTexan] good plan. i should have mentioned to change the packaging on the tablets. just look at it as a nice break from smoking or vaping without having to suffer too much. then you can decide your future on nicotine on your own terms, later, in the privacy of your own home/life.

[@664411,pentacorn] Yeah, I removed the Nicorette sticker already. 😅 They’d still probably wonder what it was when I pop one, so I’ll probably need to excuse myself to the bathroom if/when I take one…

[@1102251,RopinTexan] good going, lol you've got this, man. it will go by quick. just keep busy and try to have a good time.

Go for a walk with your vape and enjoy it.

[@490299,Raine] If I bring the vape with me, how is that going to do me any good?

[@1102251,RopinTexan] when on vacation people relax and go for walks dont they? Tell them you're going for a walk and have a good ole puff.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
[@490299,Raine] Oh right. They’ll probably be like, “Can I go with you?” though. I think I’ll just stick with the mints…
