I Think Relationships Are So Over Rated

I think relationships are obsolete these days. We're all glued to social media and have such a distorted view on relationships. We all expect what we see in movies, social media posts. I haven't been in an actual relationship since I was 20. I'm 24 now, so it's been some time but I feel it might be a good thing. I've always thought being in a relationship would make me a better person and it may come with some good moments but we sacrifice a lot more to get those little good moments but life isn't a highlight reel. Some times people are not in a situation to sacrifice as much as they want to and when we still go through with it anyways, we realize how much we lose a part of ourselves we never get back. We all need to work on ourselves instead of dragging somebody through the mud and even if you're in a happy place in your life, it never hurts to be happy alone for some time to experience what it feels like to just feel, and love yourself and not use someone as validation or a crutch. Relationships can be a beautiful thing but it's like a gift and a curse, it can be toxic, it can ruin someone's life, it can make them lose their job, their relationships with other people they've built their whole lives. Relationships are obsolete, at least nowadays but hey, I'm not in one and haven't been in a long time so what do I know.
