The UK government has spent Billions compensating former slave owners!

It only finished paying them off in 2015! 2015!!!! Imagine what could have been done with that money?! But no, it was more important to compensate slavers for loss of earnings since the trade in actual people was so unfortunately criminalised!

Up until 5 years ago, people in the UK were being well paid for the fact that their great great grandparents were vile racists馃槨馃槨馃槨

All people of color in the US want compensation since it is likely their ancestors were slaves. They seem to think they are entitled to billions.
Cant change what happened 200 years ago. Almost every country in the world had slaves.

@Confined To be honest, if slavery hadn鈥檛 happened, Africa would probably be FAR more prosperous than it is now. 400 years of progress was essentially stolen from them. Even now, former slave nations still owe billions to their former colonial masters.

@CountScrofula I'm NOT ok with anyone getting something for nothing and I don't know where you got that!
I had to work for everything I have just like everyone else should have to!

@Snuffy1957 Because you refocused this conversation onto poor black people and away from rich white people and I find that deeply telling.

I would have fined the original slavers the cost of returning slaves to the villages they were stolen from.

That is absolutely stupid! No one should be paid for being a slave owner! Or a former slave owner!

@Snuffy1957 I 100% agree. But it happened 馃槨

@InterstellarButterfly the Slave Compensation Act of 1837

@SW-User That's the law that says ex-slave owners should be compensated, but where's the source that we have paid billions until 2015? It's not something i've ever heard before.

@InterstellarButterfly if you trust Wikipedia you鈥檒l find it there. Also numerous newspapers. Just type slave compensation uk into Google.
