On Reparations from slavery

This is building off a post made about a month ago by Zenyatta. From what I’ve seen white people do not know how the real world works, no offense. So I’m here to set something straight. Black people are not on the same economic playing field. The existence of black millionaires mean that black people are economically equal, otherwise poverty based crimes wouldn’t be as prevalent.

We are not equal and we do not have the same opportunities. You people live in a fantasy world. The economic gap between black an white people has not changed since the 60s.The US government has done just about everything to keep black people from getting a foothold in this country. White people have an incredibly short memory when it comes to that.

The homestead Act, Black people who homesteaded in the Great Plains did so against the background of their bitter Black experience in the South. The Southern Homestead Act promised recently freed slaves and others the opportunity to homestead on public lands in five southern states. For freedpeople who were defeated in their efforts to gain ownership of plantation lands, the Southern Homestead Act seemed to be a possible avenue to Black landownership. Although some African Americans succeeded in gaining homesteaded land, most were unable to take advantage of the Southern Homestead Act because of their extreme poverty; the unsuitability of the lands available and difficulty of finding them; and the extreme hostility and violence that whites directed against them. The Southern Homestead Act was repealed in 1876, and Blacks turned their eyes toward homesteading in the Great Plains.

When social security was enacted they excluded agricultural workers and domestic servants were excluded professions dominated by blacks Hispanics and Asians. The Wagner act which gave workers the right to form unions and the right exclude black workers. The GI bill, which provided benefits for returning ww2 veterans while excluding blacks.

Public schools are largely funded by property taxes. The higher the value of the homes in the given neighborhoods the more revenue the neighborhood can collect for their schools. Not only have black people been outright banned from purchasing homes from white neighborhoods, but the homes in black majority neighborhoods have been devalued specifically because they were black neighborhoods. As a result school districts where the majority of students enrolled are poc receive $23bln less in education funding than predominantly white school districts.

Getting expelled/suspended from schools and fired for our natural hairstyles

Having our job applications rejected for having “black sounding” names

I could keep going with these examples but I see that majority of the people who responded to Zenyatta’s post will not only ignore such details but derail the conversation with trivial and boring arguments that are so nonsensical that make question if whether or not if these people even have countable brain cells.

Hell I’ll do you an even better one, educate yourselves you troglodytes I’ll even give you links.

[big]Facts.[/big]

If General Sherman’s original order for compensation to the freed slaves had been acted upon then (40 acres and a mule per family), it would’ve been a modest, affordable sum. Unfortunately, President Andrew Johnson was a Southern sympathizer and he gave the land back to the white Confederates, as well as helping to repeal Reconstruction anti-discrimination laws.
Today the amount would be the equivalent of 6.4 trillion dollars. And I think we know that’s not happening. They will change all the names they feel they should, remove statues, ban flags, do all the “cosmetic“ stuff but no one‘s receiving any money.
