I Am Aware Something to be considered when online dating.......... Is it recreational to you or...

I removed myself from there recently. It is not fair to even have a dating profile if you are not ready for a relationship or if you are not there for casual sex. There are a lot of fakes on dating sites but many geniun people with real feelings. I was only looking for friendship because i just recently came out of another relationship. It realized that i was in the wrong. People say "yeah friendship is fine" but they do hope for something more - why else on a "dating site". I say if you just want friendship - find it somewhere else - a dating site is for dating. There are many other places where you can make friends.

Motives are hard to determine sometimes. My brother-in-law tried dating sites after his wife passed. His main reason was simply he was lonely. He took the wife passing very hard. He would have jumped at a relationship but he had some health issues and had trouble finding someone who took him seriously. He passed away too about a year ago, he just gave up. He said he had no reason to stay.

I've done online dating. With SOME success and some failures. I'm actually engaged to someone I met on a dating site. But we actually dated and got to know one another and enjoyed and looked forward to spending time together.

Having said that, I've had everything from women just wanting casual sex, to wanting money, wanting to make babies (not just sex, but sex with intent to get pregnant) on FIRST date, women who were 9 months pregnant but never mentioned it, a relationship with someone married and still living with husband (hid that well) and even met her teen kids and parents, was asked to take a woman and her son out to eat because they had no food, one asked to stay the night with me then move in (FIRST DATE!), One kept saying (I know I'm ugly, but....). One lied about her age by like 6 years (I was 35, she said 29, she was really 23, she got SMASHED drunk at a bar. It's crazy. Just...crazy.

In this busy world it IS a tool.

Exactly. Everyone's intentions should be made known. Some just want to hook up some want to get married next week.

I tried online dating for about a month years ago. For me it was a total waste of time. I heard that the pay sites are better, so if I ever decide to try it again I'll go that route.
