The site has been open to 13 and up since its creation.

Set the appropriate settings in your profile and posts if you don't want those under 18 to see your content.

@Daneille In your account settings you can set so you stop any one under 18 being able to contact you. It's like you block all users in ages under 18.

Use appropriate settings on your posts, adult, then no child can see inappropriate content.
