I Love Great Movie Scenes

"Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself 'slightly' killed." - Roger Thornhill

If you haven't read it, do look up Todd McEwen's essay on "Cary Grant's Suit." Granta 2006. Marvelous.

Oooo - I just found it and glanced at the first bit. Going to settle in with a cup of coffee later and read. When the film was shown on TCM a while ago, the host referred to it as the most famous suit in cinematic history.

Yes, enjoy! You'll see the movie a bit differently, plus it's quite funny!

@Rambler: Ok, that was one of the best things I've read in a very long time. "But it would be too traumatic to see this suit getting totaled, that would be way beyond Hitchcock's level of sadism." I was crying with laughter. Did you see my comment below that NbyNW is going to be on the big screen nationwide? April 2nd and 5th only. I've blocked off my calendar. I may see all four showings.

:) Isn't it great? "The suit, Cary inside it, strides confidently into the Plaza Hotel." And so insightful as to what the suit really is. Almost makes me wish I owned one, though not quite. ....I did see your comment, I'll look into that. Certainly my favorite Hitchcock, one of my lifetime top 10 for sure.

@Rambler: You can find info on the screenings at FathomEvents.com They teamed up with Turner Classic Movies to do a whole bunch of movies, about one a month, but for two days only. You just punch in your zipcode for a list of theaters near you. Last month was Singing in the Rain. Nest week is An Affair to Remember. Some of the others thru the year are Some Like It Hot, The Graduate, Cassablanca - it's a nice list.

Thanks, I'll check that out! I'd love to see Bogart on the big screen.

@Rambler: I saw Singin' last month and was unprepared for how different it was on the big screen. Totally shocked.
