I Love Country Living
I was born and raised in Southern California. San Fernando Valley....freeways in our backyard, malls, theaters and the crazy mix of ethnic backgrounds.
I moved out to North Carolina to be near my kids....a small town called Hertford. Like down home 'Mayberry'.
A city guy like me had a tough time getting used to the country. No malls...no theaters...hell!...it was just a couple of banks, a One Stop gas station. Pharmacy and a local hardware store!
But I started getting used to it. Going to the local fishing spot near the bridge. Hanging out with friends on a Friday at their home. Spending a cool fall Saturday morning with the kids watching the town parade.
One morning it really sank in. Grabbing a cup of coffee I walked out to the front porch and onto the dew laden grass with my bare feet.
I look over my left shoulder I can see the morning fog hovering over the cornfields.....the sun just peeking over them. As I look above me I still see the moon in the dark blue sky. No sound besides a few chirping birds an a distant school bus.
I love North Carolina.
