If you use Google Docs and want to move the file to a USB drive or other storage device then download the file as a Microsoft Word (.docx), PDF (.pdf), or plain text (.txt) file so that you can view the file in its new location because a Google Docs file can only be opened with a url. A Google Docs file won't open if it's in the Google Drive trash or deleted from the Google Drive trash forever. It can be recovered if you ask Google Drive Support to undo deleting your Google Drive trash and if it's done before the server is set to delete them.
